Ok, before I say anything, I would like to point out that most of the information people "know" about personality disorders
is incorrect. If you think you have one, don't try to self-diagnose, see a doctor. I dont want to get into it, but when people
think that they know a lot about personality disorders, and try to self-diagnose, the only thing resulting usually is a lot
of posers.
But back to my point, a personality disorder is characterized by a person feeling (and acting) a certain way (not
just a little--extremely) consistently for a LONG time. Because of this, personality disorders can generally not be diagnosed
until the person is AT LEAST 16 or 17 years old. However, most psychiatrists will diagnose a disorder prematurely.
